World Championship opportunity for amateur surfers at the Noosa Festival of Surfing

30 November 18

Announcing just a few days ago that the 2019 tour will kick off at the Noosa Festival of Surfing in March, the WSL is now offering four non-qualified surfers the opportunity to compete in the first event of the World Longboard Tour next year.

Being held in conjunction with the 28th annual Noosa Festival, the WSL will be giving four competitors - two men and two women - the chance to receive the wildcard entries into the Noosa Longboard Open. Taking place at Noosa’s world-renowned First Point immediately after the festival, the Noosa Longboard Open will begin 2019’s world title race, and the two highest place-getters of the festival’s Men’s and Women’s Open divisions will be going up against the best in the world.

The Men’s and Women’s Open divisions of the Noosa Festival are open to everyone and, while many competitors already on the tour often compete, the wildcards will be awarded to the highest finishers without WSL qualification.

Already highly competitive divisions in the 28 years of the Noosa Festival’s history, this announcement is sure to add a new dimension of excitement to the Men’s and Women’s Opens.

Entry for these events is open to everyone, with applications now open on the festival website
