The vibrant coastal spirit of Kirra will once again take centre stage when Waves of Expression returns from 21 July to 2 August 2026, as part of the iconic Kirra Longboard Klassic.

Hosted at the Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre and across selected festival sites, the art exhibition celebrates Kirra’s unique culture, coastline and creative community.

Following the success of its inaugural event, Waves of Expression 2026 promises an even more vibrant and inclusive showcase of artistic talent, bringing together established and emerging artists to explore the deep connection between surfers, the ocean and coastal life.

Exhibition Highlights

The 2026 exhibition will feature:

Paintings, mixed media and surfboard art
Interactive art installations
Action and landscape photography

The exhibition aims to highlight Kirra’s liveability, natural beauty and diverse lifestyle, engaging all ages and facets of the community.

Opening Night Celebration

An exclusive, invitation-only opening night will officially launch the exhibition, honouring the cultural spirit and artistic energy of the Kirra Longboard Klassic. The evening will welcome event sponsors, VIP guests, local councillors and community leaders in a celebration of creativity and coastal heritage.

Artist Awards & Community Contribution

Artist Awards, including People’s Choice and Best Artwork in Each Category, will be presented during the Kirra Longboard Klassic weekend. In keeping with the festival’s community ethos, a portion of exhibition proceeds will be directed to local community organisations, ensuring the event continues to give back to Kirra.
