The first ever China Surfing Championships: For the first time in surfing’s history, National Surfing Championships were held in China – across three days on the mainland coast at Dong Chong Point, Shenzhen.

The championships, the first of two rounds, were contested in four divisions: Men’s short and longboard and Women’s short and longboard.

Head Judge, Peter “PT” Townend, commented, “This was the first time where all of China’s best surfers came together to showcase their skills and we were fortunate to have three days of waves up to one metre on a strong sandbank that allowed for some stylish longboarding and high performance surfing”.

Round two of the China Surfing Championships will now move to Hainan Island at Riyue Bay on December 20-21st and which time the 2017 Chinese Surfing Champions will be declared.

The 2017 China Surfing Championships are hosted by the Chinese Extreme Sports Association (CESA) headquartered in Beijing.
