With the winners of each division waving around over-sized cheques for 8 grand, the Vans Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational wound up last weekend in small waves on the long looping left at Riyue Bay on China’s Hainan Island.
This was the 17th Duct Tape, and the invitational list is seeing a bunch of new faces in among the regular invitees like Mell, Burch, Knost, Warren etc.
Brazil’s Chloe Calmon took the Women’s from Californian stylist Hallie Rhor, previous Duct Tape winner and WSL World Champ Honolua Blomfield, and Victoria Vergara out of Reunion Island who was competing in her first Duct Tape.
Florida’s Justin Quintal slammed his 8th final to become the most dominant Duct Taper in its history by a long shot, with Sydney lad Tom Payne ripping the lefts to grab the US 6-grand runner-up cheque, from Californians Alex Knost and Zac Flores.
We haven’t been able to get the full heat breakdowns as yet, and probably wont, but hopefully we can post a vid of the goings-on in the next week or so.
