With the WSL Longboard Tour having rolled through Bells last week, maybe it's timely to revisit the ABC's Weekend Magazine expose of Torquay in the early '70s and find out a bit more about the surfing kulture. David Hill reports.

(BTW: David Hill went on to revolutionise cricket with World Series Cricket for Kerry Packer, then launched Sky Television for Ruper Murdoch, and he produced the US versions of The X Factor, American Idol, the Academy Awards, and six Super Bowls. He never did top this piece from Torquay though.)
