We ran eight pages of young French photographer Thomas Lodin’s extraordinary surf and scenery photos from the Basque country in the mag last year (Vol. 20#1) and got a lot of feedback on that piece. Now he’s bringing out a 292-page book, for sure it’ll be something special.
Thomas emailed PLB: “It brings together three years of photographs taken in France and during my travels (California, Mexico among others). A selection of 150 photos focused around surfing and the ocean around an "artistic approach" with a layout that I realized, clear and airy, without too much text to give pride to the images. I'm fortunate to have Devon Howard who signs the preface to set the tone. It will be available for sale around December 15th. The book is supported by Oxbow.
“We will also organize some events for its launch, in France for now in Paris, Hossegor or Biarritz from mid December”
Text from Oxbow:
In the wake of his 1985 line, Oxbow transposes its surfing soul to the city. Reflecting this evolution, we are happy to introduce you the work of our friend and ambassador photographer Thomas Lodin.
He breaks down into three big colour spaces, Blue(s), White(s), Red(s), the perpetual movement of the surfer. From the ocean to the city Thomas Lodin orchestrates here a visual ballet with mastery and talent.
At only 26 year old, this photographer poses a candid look on Surfing; its object, its stories, its men, its culture and gives us unique and timeless shots.
The book in numbers:
3 years of photographs - 292 pages
