From Surf Lakes: We are now within weeks of completing of our first full-scale demonstration facility near Yeppoon, on the Capricorn Coast in QLD. Although it will not initially be open to the public, it will be the first proper surf park in Australia.

Note: There are already several “stationary” waves in Australia – such as the Flow-rider at Dreamworld and Aloha Surf in Perth. There are also numerous wavepools, such as at Wet n Wild. However, globally the only large scale facilities with moving “ocean-like” waves, where you can use a proper surfboard, are:

Wadi Surf, Dubai
Surf Snowdonia, Wales
N-Land Surf, Austin Texas
Surf Ranch, Leemore California (Kelly Slater Wave Co)
BSR Surf, Waco Texas

Surf Lakes will soon join this list!

HOW WE CREATE 5 LEVELS OF WAVES SIMULTANEOUSLY

This video of Director Reuben Buchanan explains how we create five different levels of waves using reef bathometry (four on the outer breaks, plus the beginner wave). By mimicking how ocean waves work, we believe that surfing our wave will feel very similar to surfing a perfect reef break in the ocean.
