And it’s all there in one mega 1,550 book! Here’s the latest news the California Surf Museum:
Surf Music Origins:
The California Surf Museum in Oceanside welcomes back author, David Matuszak, for an evening of surf culture reminiscing. Matuszak, author of the epic study about surf culture, San Onofre: Memories of a Legendary Surfing Beach, will take surfers on a ride down memory lane via the evolution of surf music.
The “California Sound” became the sound of a generation of surfers during the 1960s Golden Age of Surfing.
However, the music genres of California’s earliest surfers pre-date the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and Dick Dale. Surfers on Southern California beaches, like San Onofre, were strumming much different tunes during the decades preceding the ‘60s.
In so much as surfing music was responsible for universalizing and immortalizing the sport, a look at the evolution of surf music allows a thorough understanding of the relationship between music, surfing, and the effects they had on world-wide culture.
Matuszak will sign copies of his surfing book following his presentation and can inscribe Christmas gift copies to your friends and relatives.
