The Volte WA Longboard & Logger Titles raring for a start in Yallingup

12 February 20

Trigg Beach: Western Australia's vibrant and diverse longboard community will converge on Yallingup's Main Break in the coming days, as they prepare to compete in the opening event of the 2020 Volte Wetsuits WA Longboard  & Logger Titles presented by SunSmart.

Competitors from right around WA are set to take part in a whopping seperate 19 different divisions that cater for both men and women and range from Under-18 Juniors through to Over-70 Grand Legends.

Surfers will compete for the chance to represent WA at the Australian Surf Championships which will be held in Port Macquarie, NSW in August this year.

Reigning Open Men's State Champion Jack Medland (Marmion) will spearhead a field of notable surfers including Mark Matisons (Cottesloe), Evan Ledger (Cottesloe), Ryan Clark (Dunsborough) and Scott Trew (Gabbadah), who will all feature in both longboarding and logging divisions.

“Yallingup is such a fun wave on a longboard,” said Medland. “There's some really talented guys who can mix it up so well on any craft that it should be an exciting couple of days whether we're longboarding or logging.”

With more female divisions on offer that ever in 2020, the inclusive nature of longboarding will be on show at Yallingup with plenty of new and old faces set to line up against each other over the three-days competition window which starts Friday and concludes Sunday.

“Yallingup is a much loved location, rich in surf history and culture, so we're thrilled to be hosting our first longboard State Title here,” said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks. “We look forward to seeing everyone getting together and pushing the sport of longboarding further.”

Non elimination round one heats will commence from approximately 8am on Friday with event champions set to be crowned on Sunday.

Surfing WA will be streaming live heat scores and results for people to follow via their new LIVE EVENT SITE HERE
