Last month, over 31,000 people submitted a comment on Equinor's environmental plan about the proposed drilling in the Great Australian Bight and thousands of people paddled out in protest across Australia.
On behalf of the Great Australian Bight Alliance and the southern coastal communities, we thank you for all your support so far.
To continue to Fight for the Bight, join us in Torquay for a night of celebration on Friday 19th of April, or find a paddle out near you.
Join us on Good Friday to rally for the Bight at Patagonia Torquay.
The fight against risky deep sea oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight has come to a head. Equinor want to drill later this year. As part of their environment plan Equinor were forced to supply oil spill modelling, which showed oil on beaches between Margaret River in the west and Port Macquarie in the east. Wildlife, marine ecologies, local industries and communities would all be devastated. It would be a catastrophe on every level.
You have all worked together pressuring the Surfcoast Council to officially oppose the project, gathered over 31,000 public comments on Equinor's environment plan, and joined thousands across Australia paddling in protest.
