12 February 18
Non competitive surf sessions, body bashing, Wood Sniffers, Mermaid Paarty, Shaka Yurt, coffee workshops, wax workshops, movies, beach clean-ups, bands . . . it’s all happening Feb. 22-25.
And meanwhile, here’s the news on THE NEW "GURF PARADE" FROM ATMOSEA:
Atmosea is organising a "Gurf Parade" during the up coming Byron Bay Surf Festival (The term GURF is a super fun way of saying girl surfer...But don't worry if you don't surf, this parade is all about including all women!). We’re going to gather as many women as we can to parade through the Beach Markets in colourful swim wear with face and body paint, to remind the world how amazing we are!
We are ladies that want to have fun! We are proud of our bodies, all of the shapes and sizes. We want to get the girls together; the young ones, wise ones and everyone in between and show the world everyone is perfect in their own way. We know that life in a bikini can be difficult when we are constantly exposed to images of the 'ideal' woman.
Atmosea wants to make girls feel great about themselves - exactly the way they are, and we would love for you to stand along side us and spread this message loud and clear.
The Design Kids will help us make quirky and engaging posters with important messages about women empowerment, we will make some noises with drums & maracas then end with a choreographed dance performance together.
Why do we think this important?
Times, they are a changing!
Just look at the incredible support and success of the Women' March in Sydney this weekend! We want to carry on with this message, especially at a surf event. The surf industry can sometimes feel very male dominant and we want to show the world that we are just as capable. We want to be part of this global movement of Women Empowerment.
This is the challenge of our generation. It is not somebody else’s struggle, it is mine and yours to challenge and conquer....because we are the future now, and we are so capable of continuing with this incredible movement.
So... What do we want from you?
To get your girl tribe to join the fun! We are going to make posters and props & practice some fun dances and simply hang out leading up to the Festival, so we can bring a MOB on the day to ensure we make a big, colourful, fun and positive statement.
We would really love for you to be involved.
