The Alex Winter Longboard Classic – it’s coming

The Alexandra Headland Malibu Club is proudly hosting its annual Winter Longboard Classic on the weekend of the 12^th 13^th 14^th of June and this year we are celebrating the 44^th Anniversary of this iconic surfing event at The Bluff Alexandra Headland  

The Winter Longboard Classic attracts entrants from all over Australia as well as a strong local contingent to this family oriented longboard surfing event which in 2019 was named Sunshine Coast Federation Sporting Event of The Year.

There are a total of 14 divisions from Junior Boys 16 and under and Junior Girls 16 and under thru to all age divisions from Over 35s thru to the Masters over 70s division as well as Over 40s Womens division and there are also 5 specialty divisions including Open 8 ft and Open 9ft ,Open Women Division as well as the Logger Division and Old Mal Division original traditional surfboards made pre 1967 

Over the decades of the event there is always a lot of families competing with mums and dads surfing in there chosen division as well as there sons and daughters and even grandchildren all hitting the surf and hanging out all day at the beach and just having fun making it a true family surfing event over the 3 days with plenty of competitors prizes and surfboard raffles to be won and an Auction of a surfing /cultural experience of a lifetime to Nusa Island Reteat Kavieng Papua New Guinea  

The event always attracts some of the best surfers in the country every year with past and current Queensland and Australian champions and even a World Champion competing so spectators will be witnessing an amazing standard of surfing across the 3 days with the finals taking place on the Sunday.
