CWATAR INC has chosen this year’s event logo which is another masterpiece of our treasured and loved ‘Bob’ Robert Kingsley Gammage’s painted artistic mastery, sadly we lost Bob last year having joined the other angels of art. The event T-shirt will show one of Bob’s pieces that is hanging on the wall of the local event support sponsor PRD the leading property expertise and property management specialists in Agnes Water.
Currently the Over 60s division is dominating entry numbers in the age divisions and is showing only three vacancies left of the 24 that were available. The Over 35 women’s division is already half full.
Other divisions that are hugely popular are the Stand-Up Paddle divisions, the 10ft plus SUP longboard on Friday only has completely filled the 12 spots there, while the SUP Men on Friday had only three spots left (the last time I looked at the event details page on CWATAR INC’s website).
The entries from those residing North of Fraser Island are going gangbusters filling their divisions quickly including the Under 16 MIXED NOF division with their unique zero entry fee sponsored again by the generous support of Matt Lauder who is SYNERGY Pipelines & Plumbing.
Matt Lauder additionally supports and sponsors local NOF juniors by paying 50% of their entry fee when they enter the Saturday Mixed Juniors which is an under 17 years division in the main event age divisions on Saturday 18 & 19 March. This type of support sponsorship from Matt is a magnificent and benevolent aid that is directly in line with CWATAR INC’s mission which is aimed at a healthy lifestyle, giving back to the community, and especially focused on supporting, developing, and creating opportunities for local youth. E.G. in 2020 we at CWATAR INC. supported the Agnes Water Skateboarding, and the Tide N Turn Board Riders club.
The Saturday mixed junior division being under 17 years is being dominated by entry numbers and previous contest results at the Agnes Water Longboard Classic by those juniors south of Fraser Island from the Sunshine Coast of Queensland and in particular the Noosa Malibu Club.
The Men and Women’s Pro-Logger divisions are set for two days and start Tuesday 14 March, sponsored again by Agnes Water 1770 Concrete with a huge thank you to Roark Shultz the CWATAR INC treasurer, and he has guaranteed $750 1st prize for each division, and CWATAR INC is adding for this year 100% of the competitor’s entry money which will further raise the prize pool for each division for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th placings.
Paul White the CWATAR INC president is the contest director, he said. “Our CWATAR INC plan is committed to providing top tier longboard surfing events, and to closely follow the end of the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing on 12 March, attracting interest from those International, Inter-State and neighbouring regional competitors that will be competing at NFOS, and creating awareness of the idyllic towns of Agnes Water, Seventeen Seventy (1770) and the Discovery Coast Region.
The CWATAR INC website has the ongoing support sponsors so please support them and the online entry form with the event details showing the current vacancies.
Better get your entry in and join in the fun that is THE CLASSIC. Running from Tuesday March 14 to Sunday March 19, 2023.
