The Contest. Logjam! is the longest running vintage longboard event in the world. Surfers from around the state bring classic old boards, required to be pre-1970 construction and over 30 pounds, leashes not allowed. Logjam! features superb surfing, lots of booths, surf rock tunes, and it all combines into beautiful vibes and Aloha.

The club raffles off surfboards from great local shapers and also other amazing prizes. Expect great spring weather and surfing conditions. Logjam! is an official Coalition of Surfing Clubs contest, attracting competitive (aka shredding) longboarders from throughout California.  Surf Clubs LogJam!

SurfAid runs a mini-contest fundraiser within the Logjam!, and this is the sixth year partnering with them (www.surfaid.org). Surfaid operates health and sanitation programs in remote Indonesian island villages and in Baja California. Thanks to our partnership, SurfAid has raised and donated nearly $250,000!

SurfAids's 2022 mini contest featured the remarkable surfing talents of Wingnut, Michel Junod, Shawn Dollar, and more. We are stoked to bring SurfAid back in 2023!

Community Fundraising. Over 20 years Logjam! has raised over $150,000 for worthy local non-profits and local college-bound high school surfer-scholars.

● In 2022 Logjam! fundraising allowed Big Stick to donate to Surfrider Foundation Santa Cruz, Save our Shores, Save the Waves, Santa Cruz Scholastic Surf League, and Ride A Wave. We added three worthy organizations to our donations: Waves of Impact, Live Oak Education Foundation, and Me Water Foundation.

● Since Logjam! began, Big Stick Surfing Association Scholarship Fund has competitively awarded $75,000 in college scholarships to Santa Cruz students.

● We are proud to have donated over $24,000 to help needy and disabled kids have a day at the beacj thanks to Ride-A-Wave

● We are also proud to support local organizations protecting our coast. The Santa Cruz Surfrider Foundation, Save Our Shores, and Surfer's Environmental Alliance together have received over $22,000 over the years

● We've donated $2,500 to the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum. Junior Guards groups have received $3,400 in ‘scholarships’ for kids who couldn't afford to participate.

● The Santa Cruz Scholastic Surf League organizes wonderful contests for local kids all year long. Since 2017, the League has received nearly $5,000 from Big Stick.

Logjam is a Draw. Logjam! attracts over 100 contestants and thousands of spectators from all over California and has gotten national and even international notice. 2022 had wonderful press coverage thanks to our media partner Santa Cruz Waves and the event was picked up by Australian Pacific Longboarder magazine, Santa Cruz Sentinel, all over Instagram, and more.
