“TRIM – The Longboard Film Festival" makes it’s debut at the 2026 Kirra Longboard Klassic

Where Style Meets the Screen: The Kirra Longboard Klassic is excited to announce the launch of TRIM – The Longboard Film Festival, a brand-new celebration of longboard surfing through film, curated by renowned filmmaker and longboard surfer Cameron Staunton.

Taking place as part of the 2026 Kirra Longboard Klassic, TRIM will bring together a collection of outstanding surf films that capture the style, culture, characters and community that define traditional longboarding.

Filmmaker Cameron Staunton said the evening will showcase a mix of acclaimed surf films together with a very special local premiere.

"Longboarding has always been about more than just surfing—it's about community, creativity and storytelling. TRIM is a chance to celebrate that through film while bringing everyone together for a great night at the Kirra Longboard Klassic."

Australian Screening of POND

Headlining the festival is POND, featuring celebrated longboard surfers Izzy Henshall and Tosh Tudor.

The film has already developed a strong following, with its previous screening attracting an audience of around 300 people, and is expected to be one of the highlights of the festival.

Exclusive World Premiere – CHAFED

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening will be the exclusive world premiere of CHAFED.

Currently in production, CHAFED is being directed and edited by Cameron Staunton and features Archy Bemrose alongside a host of talented surfers from Noosa and Coolangatta.

Also Screening – Marshall

Festival audiences will also enjoy Marshall, a beautifully filmed documentary following French longboard surfer Marshall along Australia's east coast, highlighting the people, waves and experiences that make Australia's surfing culture unique.

A Celebration of Surf Culture

The addition of TRIM – The Longboard Film Festival expands the Kirra Longboard Klassic beyond competition, reinforcing its position as one of Australia's premier celebrations of traditional surfing.

Event Director Sean McKeown said the festival reflects the broader vision of the event.

"The Kirra Longboard Klassic has always been about more than who wins a heat. It's about celebrating surfing's rich culture, history and community. Cameron has assembled a fantastic program that will appeal to surfers and non-surfers alike, and we're thrilled to welcome TRIM as a new feature of the festival."
