Surfing Byron Bay in the early 1960s

30 June 21

A bootleg dug up from the dark web by Ian “Gumshoe” Lording, who added: “Surfing's salad days. Could this be a grab from Barefoot Adventure? Some timeless moves there.”

We’re thinking that looks like Nipper Williams on the board with the double comp stripe, and Frank Latta in the carpark. There are a couple of mad turns near the end (1 minute 30) that could well be Phil Edwards? He was down in Oz and in Byron with Bruce Brown in this era. And that does look like him sitting in front of the lighthouse in the opening scenes. Anyway, some ripping early longboarding here - have fun spotting the styles.
