From Andrew McKinnon:
Sad news about Brent Osment who passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 19.
He was 75 would have been 76 in July.
Originally from Cronulla, moved to Sydney’s Northern Beaches living at Whale Beach and worked in advertising at North Sydney. Moved up to Byron Bay, then later to Brisbane before establishing himself on the Southern Gold Coast.
Famously Brent was the first to introduce Bonsoy to sponsoring surfing events, initially, back in the late 90s with SQ and Longboard State Titles. He was SQ Longboard rep and manager of SQ team in 1999 National Longboard titles helping engineer SQ to a National Teams title at Bells.
Eventually Bonsoy hit the big time ala major sponsor of Gold Coast Bonsoy Pro 2026!
Brent had such a colourful life and impact on so many people. Such a charitable character (doesn't even go close.) to describe this charismatic crazy guy who loved being mein host, dressed in smart polo shirts and loved surfing at Currumbin Alley.
We will miss his infectious personality and passion!
Survived by wife Georgie, son Sterling and grandchildren. RIP Brent
