Watch: Patagonia’s new film, featuring Global Surf Activist Belinda Baggs on the future of ocean protection HERE
Act: take action with the Australian Marine Conservation Society HERE
The future of Australia’s south-east ocean is at stake. Seismic blasting, drilling for fossil fuels and plans to dump carbon pollution in the ocean are threatening the health of marine life, including endangered species like the southern right whale.
Ocean protection means clean waves and more fish. It means caring for sea Country and putting community first. But only 8 per cent of the offshore waters in the south-east are currently protected in marine sanctuaries. This just doesn’t cut it.
When everyone stands up and makes their voices heard, we can make a difference.
The Australian Government is making big decisions about the future of marine parks in this region. Join our partner Australian Marine Conservation Society in calling for expanded marine sanctuaries in the South-east Marine Parks Network.
Public submissions close on 14 November.
