Readers of our mag will know we have 14 pages on Phil Edwards in the new issue (which we’ve been getting a ton of great feedback on btw, including a nice little note from Phil himself! :) The article is written by John Wade, and this vid shot at Sunset Point is a kinda continuation of the “Phil Project” – featuring John and some restored Phil Edwards boards, with cameos from the greats Jock Sutherland and Randy Rarick. North Shore local ripper Willey Asprey also rides a couple, with John adding: “We had to get Willy in there as a stunt double for us old guys!”
An innovative shaper, Phil was pretty much universally regarded as the best surfer of the late ‘50s and early to mid ‘60s - even by Dora. This vid was shot by Ash Media.
