Paul McCartney’s new music vid SLIDIN’ to celebrate International Surfing Day

21 June 21

Paul McCartney and Jack McCoy collaborate again to send a gift to our oceans and the surfing world to celebrate International Surf Day and share their stoke for the efforts of Surfrider Foundation in Australia and worldwide.

The music video features the song SLIDIN’ that is on Paul's latest release McCartney III album.

“I got word from Paul that he had created a song while in CoviD Rock-down about the guys who free base jump off cliffs with wing suits and…. fly.  He asked if I or any of my friends had some extreme footage to make a video.  I took that request as a hint and once I heard the song I immediately went 'Craig Anderson!'.  I’ve appreciated his surfing for several years now and could visualize the clip in my head straight away” said McCoy.

McCoy also thanked those who helped create the SLIDIN' music video, "HUGE thanks to Baren Hall, Dave Fox, Jimmy Lees, Lachlan McKinnon and Tom Jennings for allowing me to produce the clip with their amazing images, to Campbell Wilson for playing with me on the edit and a Big Thank You to Craig for going on this little journey with me".

Craig Anderson was asked what his first reaction was to the track being from Paul McCartney.  “I’ve always been a Beatles fan yet I’ve always loved Paul’s solo music too.  It is so important that the human race protects and to be informed on what is happening with our oceans. However, out of all the great moving parts in this project I’m most happy with the collaboration with Surfrider who are doing just that.”

Paul commented,  “I am right behind Surfrider and the fantastic work they do for the community in Australia and around the world. Jack McCoy’s new film is a joyous expression of his love of surfing”.

International Surfing Day (est. 2005) is a worldwide celebration of the sport of surfing. The day is observed with surf contests, barbecues, film screenings and other surf-related activities. Surfers also use the day to give back to the environment by organizing beach clean-ups, dune and other habitat restoration and other activities.

McCoy added, "Our mutual love of the ocean has brought all of us together to raise awareness for Surfrider Foundation and hope you will consider becoming a member with those like minded ocean lovers who are dedicated to the protection of the world's waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education.

"To show your support, please visit surfrider.org.auHope you enjoy this little spark of stoke as much as we had fun making it. Aloha to all!”
