OUR 99th BOARD – WIN A CARABINE SHAKEY MODERN LOG

15 March 23

Shane Hornby was a hot ’Gong local who’d grown up hanging around Mick Carabine’s factory and was so gone on everything to do with surfboards he bought the whole caboodle.

Terry “Snake” Bishop was the original shaper and he and Mick kicked-off Carabine in the late ’60s – and Terry, some five decades later, is still hands-on in the factory today. Occy, Cairns, Horan, Banks and PT were among many high profile surfers who picked his brains and rode his boards over the years, and he’d have no idea of just how many shapes he’s crafted for everyday surfers.

Shane’s been living the dream and running Carabine since 2011, and deeply aware of its legacy, is determined to keep the integrity of the label intact. “We’ve got some of the best locals on longboards and short, but I get off on anyone being stoked on our boards - good surfer, average surfer, doesn’t matter. Life’s too short to surf shit boards!”

“The Shakey is a tuned and well-balanced modern log - easy to turn when you need it and it’s a great noserider.”

They come custom from 9’0” to 9’10” - and some Aussie PLB subscriber will have their own Shakey by next issue!
