OUR 96th BOARD! WIN THE SUGAR MOUNTAIN "HTD"

15 July 22

Jordan Nobel’s been a pivotal shaper in the Victorian and Australian log and longboard scene for over 20 years, having made boards for a lot of top loggers and passed on skills to a crew of shapers and surfboard manufacturers.

He started shaping full-time when he was just 18 and these days is building his Sugar Mountain boards from start to finish himself – design, shape, glass, sand, finish, the works.

Based in Jan Juc, Jordan and his wife Zoey have two boys (three and six months) keeping them on their toes in between running the family business.

“We’re not rock stars, I’m just a surfboard shaper,” laughs Jordan. That said though he did name the label after the Neil Young song “Sugar Mountain”, adding, “I really like his grunge stuff, but just can’t hack that particular song at all, I just liked the name!” And so do we. (Kinda like the song too tho.)

A class surfer himself, Jordan makes boards designed to work and the HTD model (Heavy Tree Device) at 9’4” is his “all ’round middle of the road, thin-rail Australian log”.

Just check it out – a beautiful thing – and some Australian PLB subscriber will own a Sugar Mountain Heavy Tree Device by next issue.
