Some unusual stuff lands in our inbox from time to time, and this you’d have to file this under “Exotic”. It’s not longboarding as we know it, but longboarding on wheels – skateboarding with speed through some scenery in Siberian Russia you wouldn’t usually get to see.
It was sent to us by “Tho-Headed Dog”, who says:
“I'm the representative of our longboard team Basic. We make boards and ride them on the serpentines of eastern Russia. Last year we made a film about our trip across Altai. We hope that our film will deserve your attention and you will be able to make a post with his presentation. Thank you.
“Our riders: Artem Vladimirov, Maria Zakirova, Sergey Bastrykin, Alexander Malyshev, Iliya Astashov, Nikita Mankov.”
It runs for 25 minutes, it’s most certainly not surfing but there’s some symmetry here, and if you’ve got the time it’s worth the trip.
From Google: Altai is a Russian republic in southern Siberia whose terrain encompasses the Altai Mountains and surrounding tundra, alpine meadows and thousands of lakes. Most of the republic is protected as biodiverse reserves, which shelter diverse wildlife like snow leopards and argali mountain sheep.
