Me and the grandkids, Eden, Kade and baby Luca on Eden's birthday. Coincidentally I wasn't the only one getting a new custom board! I’d made her this balance/goof board, with her name, birthday, and board dimensions pencilled along the stringer."

Lesa lands the Fine Surfcraft by Andrew Warhurst – our 88th magazine subscriber giveaway!

16 September 20

Lesa Prowse has only got back into longboarding in the last year or so after an extended visit to the supping dark side, and she was fairly losing it when we rang to say she’d scored the Nose Sugar from Fine Surfcraft by Andrew Warhurst.

“I’m riding a 15-year-old longboard and am so due for a new one! This is just incredible!”

Turns out Lesa is a member of the great Mal De Mer Longriders who surf out of Bonny Hills on the Mid North Coast.  “It’s a fantastic club, and we have a really strong ladies contingent at the monthly comps too, with some younger girls but mostly a regular crew of women over 40 and over 50.

“It’s funny, but when I pulled into the carpark for the last one there was this big group of people all in a huddle and I thought maybe someone had been injured or something, but it was just someone had arrived with a new board and they were all just checking it out. So my turn next month hey!”

Yep Lesa you’ll be bending a few minds with this board. Andrew’s label is the end result of 20-odd years of study and hard work in the industry, mastering all aspects of traditional production from laminating resin tints, sanding and polishing to shaping. From his factory in Noosa he builds all his boards old-school start to finish under the one roof - in between some R&D at the points of course.

“The Nose Sugar model features a subtle, flatter nose rocker into a slight kick in the tail which is accentuated by a scooped out tail concave on the deck to help create stay-time in the pocket.”

Complete with ’60s comp stripe, she’s all yours Lesa.
