Kirra Longboard Klassic kicks off tomorrow Friday 31 – through to Sunday

With just days to go until the 2026 Kirra Longboard Klassic, early forecasts are pointing towards a memorable weekend at Australia's most iconic point break.

Current forecasts indicate a solid pulse of swell arriving on Friday, 31 July, providing exciting conditions for the opening day of competition. Offshore winds are expected to help groom the waves, creating quality conditions for experienced competitors. The weekend forecast predicts milder winter temperatures with a mix of sunshine and cloud. 

"Winter is when Kirra produces clean swells ideal for longboarding, and we're excited by what the forecast is showing," said Event Director Sean McKeown.

"Every year Kirra delivers something special. Whether it's perfect peeling walls or sometimes more challenging conditions. The atmosphere on the beach is always incredible. We encourage everyone to come along, enjoy the surfing, live music, food vendors, the Gage Roads Brew Beach Bar, and all the community activities throughout the weekend."

The Kirra Longboard Klassic runs from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August, featuring more than 170 surfers across divisions ranging from juniors to over-60s, adaptive surfing, defence forces, family teams, fancy dress surfing, the new Glider Division, and the prestigious Nose Rider event.
