“Kev the Head” – the Celibate Rifles song for Kevin Brennan

The Head was the jockey-sized surf punk from Bondi with an almost supernatural ability who took the surfing world by storm at age 15 but was dead by 25, overdosing on heroin somewhere down the back of a seedy Kings Cross nightclub. 

In 1965 aged 15 at Long Reef on the Northern Beaches he won both the juniors and seniors against the best in the biz at the NSW Titles - including Midget, Nat, and Mick Dooley in the seniors, and Bobby Brown and Robert Conneeley in the juniors. The Rifles’ singer and songwriter Damien Lovelock grew up with Kevin Brennan at Bondi. Damo's various sucessful careers as musician, features writer, football commentator, and yoga teacher "all came about by accidient" he said. "I was a man without a plan". He died of natural causes in 2019 aged 65. Rest in Peace you diamonds.
