Justine Mauvin “fighting for life” following a freak car accident

17 November 24

The former top-ranked WSL World Longboard Tour competitor and famed singer and musician from Reunion Island is in a critical condition in ICU after a piece of metal fell from a truck she was following and speared through her windscreen.

The freak accident happened on a coastal road near St-Leu on Reunion on November 13, but we haven’t been able to find any further updates as yet on local media.

A two-time French Champion, Justine finished 3rd in the world in 2016.

A guitarist, keyboardist, singer and composer, Justine plays a hybrid of pop, soul, creole, electro and traditional music from Reunion with her band Kinibé.

Her stage name is Sibu Manaï, which means “Cherish the flower, make it blossom, make it flourish” – a name she was given by locals during an extended stay in the Mentawai Islands in 2019.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Justine.
