Once again there will be up to 50 serious collectors displaying hundreds of boards andrare surfing memorabilia. A highlight of the day will be a display of Kombis and vintage surf wagons and sedans. Classic old slipstream caravans will adorn the foreshorewith hotrods and surf cruisers along side.
As in previous years the event will be held along the Point Leo Foreshore overlooking the famous Suicide Point. There will be plenty of coffee stops and food and barbecues will be run all day. Live music and classic 50s, 60s, and 70s numbers shall filter through the PA throughout the day.
There will be a gathering of Peninsula current and past surfriding clubs, with the Suicide Savages proudly heading up the long list of clubs that have surfed and competed around this wonderful coast over the past 60 years and more. All local board manufactures will be present displaying their boards, and a brief history of their businesses and contributions to what is now a large and rapidly growing Victorian surfing industry.
Special guests include George Rice, 10 times Bells Champion Gail Couper and other original manufacturers from the 50s and 60s. Bob Smith, the official Rip Curl historian, will be present WITH THE OFFICIAL RIPCURL BELLS BEACH BELL on display, along with other Rip Curl memorabilia.
So bring the family, grab that old stick you have under the house, and come on down to what will be another memorable day of old crew, great boards and displays,and lots of old stories and tales of a bygone era!
The Disabled Surfers Association, Mornington Peninsula branch, with help from Trigger Brothers Surfboards are proud to announce that the 4thPoint Leo Vintage Surf Day will be held on Sunday the 27th of October starting at 10am.
Entry fee is $4.00 per car, with exhibitors, Kombis, vintage cars and caravans free entry.
