We must be big on the Coal Coast as this is our third giveaway board to head south of Sydney in the past 18 months or so – and off to a “Goatie” it goes!
The Goats Creek Longboarders are a core crew from around Port Kembla, and father of three Jim Manoliadis is not only a foundation member but has been their treasurer for 12 years, and reckon he wasn’t rapt to win the Oceanside Surfcraft Noserider!
Finished to the nines with a full light blue tint and a “sanded smoke” filler coat, this 9’4” is shaped by Oceanside’s Dru Sheppard and dressed up with resin work by Rhino Laminating, and 100% made on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Dru grew up in Mona Vale, still lives, surfs and works there, and comes from a family of much-respected surfers: “The Noserider’s plan-shape is quite hippy with an 18.5" nose and 16.5” tail and wide point pulled right back. It has a smooth entry rocker with some decent tail kick for great hold on the tip, and a blended nose concave to rolled all the way through the tail. At 9’4” x 23” x 3” with pinched 50/50 rails, it’s our best selling log and an everyday favourite.”
We’re thinking Jim better keep an eye on this board the first time he takes it to a Goats Creek club comp, his mates on the committee were more than keen to join him in the photo and odds are they’re itching to have a crack on it.
