If you too have a mess of a wetbox in the back of the car, check out EZEwax.

The following is some chat from Micah Speight about his new product and how he cooked it up:
The idea for EZEWax was actually born about 15 years ago. I started surfing late in life as I lived too far from the ocean for it really to be practical. I was about 20 when I started surfing. It wasn’t long before I was badly bitten by the surfing bug and culture. My wife and I moved to Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast, this is when surfing became more practical!
Not too far into my surfing journey, Leanne (my wife) started complaining about the amount of wax residue and melted wax that was appearing in our car. Not too long after that, wax started appearing everywhere, my wetsuit, our car, my clothing, just everywhere!
Leanne said, “is there no place for your wax to go?”. I did some investigation and everyone was making do using plastic containers. One guy I surfed with used a soap holder, like what you use when you go camping. I reported my findings back to my wife and she said “well, you’re a product designer, fix it!”
EZEWax was born!
EZEWax started as a 3D Printed part, a very long way from where it is now. I used it all the time as it solved the problem for me.
Other surfers would ask me what it was and if I could make them one. There are a number of surfers out there who are still using the printed version from 10 years ago!
Fast forward to a time when my kids are older and I have more time on my hands.
I went back to the drawing board and re-developed EZEWax. I used 3D CAD to design it, then I had prototypes made and we went through about 6 months of testing different versions, the biggest difference being how the 2 parts locked together.
Once we got the design right I had a company tool it for me, and we started manufacturing them. It was my daughter’s idea to have different colours you can mix and match.
As it stands we have sold about 400 units mostly here on the Surf Coast of Victoria, but we also now have customers in NSW and QLD. We also sponsor 2 junior surfers on the Sunshine Coast.
We’ve been able to get EZEWax into 4 stores; BoardSox, Powerhouse Surf WA, Shed Nine and we’re talking to Long Reef Surf in NSW.
So that’s the journey of EZEWax so far, we hope there’s a lot more to come.
