Run by a handful of local dedicated female surfers, 2017 saw over 60 competitors, ranging in age from eight to 60 converge on one of Victoria’s best longboard waves, Point Impossible on the Surf Coast.
Wild Women on Water is a unique longboarding event for women and girls, with a focus on fun and inclusiveness both in and out of the water.
Held in conjunction with International Women’s Day it is a celebration of women of any age, ability and walk of life taking to the waves.
Last year the event was supported by many local businesses and was able to raise a large sum, which was then donated to local youth and female service provider Bethany.
In 2018 the event will be held on Saturday the 3rd of March at Point Impossible starting at 8am.
Divisions in 2018 include:
U/18 longboard, Open longboard, Over 35 longboard, Expression Session (a different format to the traditional competition heat, which is targeted at getting those new to competition surfing participating), and the newest addition to the Wild Women family, the open shortboard division.
Come and join in on the surfing, and action out of the water, including beach dance party, raffle prizes and much much more!
