When we phoned Bill Davidson to tell him he’d just won the Carabine Shakey in our 97th subscriber board giveaway he was busy working in his wife Nikki’s clothing store Chuckles and Boo in the Sunshine Plaza at Maroochydore on the Sunny Coast.

“That is so beautiful! Talk about make my day! My daughter Bailey is a really good longboarder and the subscription to the mag is as much for her as it is for me. Her younger sister Charlie is getting interested in learning too. So how good is this!” And it turns out Chuckles and Boo is named after their daughters. “When the kids were little, Bailey was ‘Bailey Boo’ and Charlie was always laughing so her nickname was ‘Chuckles’.” Well plenty to chuckle about now guys!

Carabine Surfboards have been building boards of all sorts out of Wollongong for 53 years, and says owner Shane Hornby, “We’ve got some of the best locals on longboards and short, but I get off on anyone being stoked on our boards - good surfer, ordinary surfer, doesn’t matter. Life’s too short to surf shit boards.”

“The Shakey is a modern log and well-balanced in every sense and it’s easy to turn when you need it - classic lines, hard arcs and easy noserides, and it comes custom from 9’0 to 9’10.” And one’s is heading your way now Billy, and Bailey, and Charlie.
