11 October 19
Held annually on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and rotated between five clubs - Palm Beach, Long Reef, Curl Curl, Freshwater and Manly - 15 of each club’s top surfers get together for a fun day of “serious” competition. Since its inception in 1997, the ‘5 Ways’ has hosted an array of Local, State and National Champs, and includes a range of divisions through traditional logs, performance longboards, Womens, Juniors, and this year for the first time an Over 70s division.
This year will be hosted at Freshwater Beach by the Freshwater Longboard Club. In its 26th year, the Freshwater Longboard Club has seen a range of members, some who have represented the club in both State and National Levels, and a lot of original members who frequent the club, either competitively or socially.
The Freshie club is proudly supported by many local businesses including, The Harbord Beach Hotel, Bendigo Bank Freshwater, Calm Cafe, Salt Bush Cafe, Keel Surf Supply, Flying Tiger Barber, Patagonia, Long Reef Surf, Manly Longboard Co, Room Two Ten, Freshwater Bowen Therapy and O’Donnell Surfboards.
For those in the area, head down to Freshwater Beach on Saturday the 26th of October to enjoy a day of local competition. Grab a sauasage sandwich and a beer, support your local clubs and their generous sponsors. Also get to meet a few current WSL competitors too!
- Cheers, Braden O'Rourke - President, Freshwater Longboard Club.
