1960s Queensland – “Route One: Highway to the Sun”

You might have to come back to this when you have 40 minutes to spare - it’s a major production and well worth the trip.

From the Queensland State Archives and produced by the Queensland Department of Main Roads - and the old DMR sure threw some dollars (pounds) at this back in the day.

From the Tweed and the Gold Coast through Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and right on through to the Cook Highway and Port Douglas.

Marvel at the tobacco fields of the Glasshouse Mountains, the “computer” at the Brisbane Uni, boat trips to the Barrier Reef, and all those fashionable holidaymakers!

“No other Australian playground offers an international or local visitor such a variety of sophisticated interests and relaxation.”

It’s one thousand three hundred miles by road – “Route One: Highway to the Sun” –  WATCH IT HERE

AND THANK YOU BILLY T FOR SENDING US THIS.
