The Lost City of Gold

Jimmy Olsen, aka super-surf-reporter Jimmy O'Keefe, puts his years of journalistic and barrel-threading experience on the fabulous Gold Coast to work in compiling the definitive analysis of the subject. It's much, much more than the bloody 'Superbank' and Jimmy takes us on a rollicking trip through its many highlights. Fantastic photos from all over as well. Gee it's great in the Sunshine State!

That Summer at Boomerang
You really haven't been paying attention if you haven't heard about Phil Jarratt's latest tome on the Duke's historic (and remarkably extended) trip to Australia early in the 20th century. While he did a lot more than style on wooden boards in Sydney, this excerpt from Phil's book focuses on that famous day in January 1915 when Duke put on a show at Freshwater and then took a young Isobel Letham out to shoot a couple of cool ones.

When Tom Met Harry
Californian lensman Tom Servais is one of the most published surf photographers of all time and one of very few to have a dedicated Surfers Journal Masters of Surf Photography book. Over five decades he's built a portfolio of some of surfing's most memorable photos - Curren at Backdoor, Carroll at Pipe, Irons at Teahupoo - and now Harry Roach on a log in a two-foot beachie. On the North Shore no less! All covered.

Cookie Monster
Pretty amazing that Cronulla charger Matty Cook has never featured in a surf mag before. When we first saw the pics of Matty on a 9'3" at Cape Solander on a very solid but clean day we said who is this guy? Well he turns out to be a very interesting character as well as a great surfer. Ben Bennick becomes Sigmund and gets (a little) inside his head.

A Pinch of Salt
And now to more exotic locations such as a cartel-controlled stretch of Mainland Mexico with Californian Danica Elbertse. An exceptional longboarder, she is also an accomplished photographer and writer with a quirky and original take on her subject.

Fortune Cookies
From the sublime in Mexico to the somewhat ridiculous in Hainan China with ASP chaplain Andrew Carruthers and his off-contest take on the festivities around the World Longboarding Titles. Don't miss the Beach Honey Beauty Contest - the Chinese version of the beach babe parade. And some surf too!

Page Three Girl
Heather Fausten from Oahu loves surfing, travelling and wants to make the world a better place. She'll do it too!

The Buzz
PT, the inside on the incredible Last paradise movie, the Max Tag board winner, and all sorts of stuff you didn't realise you needed to know.

Grey Guru
Campbell was up to sorting out the bikies but he had no idea how to bring some manners back to the crowded summer surf breaks on the Goldie. Step up GG. Sorted!

Cutting Edge

New York has the New York Review of Books but PLB has Cutting Edge to give you frank, insightful and interesting opinions on the latest media releases of interest to surfers of high consciousness - as all PLB readers would be, of course.
