WIN A CARABINE 9’4” PIGLET – OUR 103 BOARD GIVEAWAY!

24 April 24

Carabine Surfboards have just completed the gargantuan and no doubt bittersweet task of moving factory after more than 50 years at the same location! (Imagine the build-up of resin on the floor just for starters!)

That funky old Carabine factory was the cornerstone of surfboard manufacture and surf culture in Wollongong since longboards were all there was, but with progress being the beast it is, a multi-story development will now stand in its place.

Anyway, Carabine’s owner Shane Hornby and his crew embraced the challenge and are now putting the finishing touches on a state-of-art factory in Bellambi, and as it’s turned out, they’re really excited to have a new start, a modern showroom on the way, and a heap more (clean) space to build their boards start-to-finish.

Carabine have always built beautiful, innovative boards, and as Shane says, “We’ve got some of the best locals on longboards and short, but I get off on anyone being stoked on our boards – good surfer, ordinary surfer doesn’t matter. Life’s too short to ride shit boards!”

And here’s their newest model, The Piglet, designed by teamrider Aidan Cashin and shaped by Terry Bishop - Carabine’s original shaper who’s been there since 1969 and is still hands on in the (new) factory today.

At 9’4” x 23” x 2 7/8”, with that rounded pin it has a “less-of-a-pig” plan-shape which allows you to turn it more easily from further up the board, and it’s a great noserider – just a user-friendly board all round.

And some Aussie PLB subscriber is going to own their very own Piglet by next issue!

Check out Carabine at their new digs at Unit 74, 6 Bellambi Lane, Bellambi – or online at: carabine.surf
