Two of the most closely contested finals of the older divisions were contested in the Over 50 and 55 Men’s.

Cottesloe’s Peter Dunn got his own back on Bill Gibson from Margaret River in the Over 50 Final. Dunn who recently gave up smoking, attributes his win to kicking the habit, saying that it has given him extra stamina when competing. Dunn won the final from Gibson by just 0.70 points, setting up a showdown for round two at Avalon Pt later in the year.

In the Over 55 Men’s Final Mick Marlin, Mandurah held onto victory against a very in form Gerry Bejarano from Trigg. The two were virtually having a contest of their own in the final. Matched wave per wave on their exchanges the lead constantly changed, but in the end Marlin did enough to take the win from Bejarno by just 0.87 points to win.

All eyes are now turned towards round two of the series to be held mid year at Avalon Point.
