NEXT PLB GIVEAWAY: A DJB HAND-MADE 9’4” SINGLE-FIN
Wednesday, 16 August 2017

Yeah we've given away 76 boards and here's number 77. Daniel Bekis designs, shapes, glasses and sands all his DJB boards start-to-finish. He also runs hand-shaping workshops out of his factory in Brookvale, where any surfer can learn to craft a board from a blank. "Old school" is Dan's thing.

A Northern Beaches local, Dan started out at Bennetts before going out on his own in 1993, and over the next years developed a love for riding and shaping mid-length single-fins and traditionally styled logs.

"These days I just appreciate all styles, and with feedback and help from teamriders I'm doing a variety of midlengths, performance multi-fin longboards, and logs . . . tailoring to suit the local breaks around Sydney, as well as the longer walls of the East Coast points.

The Medusa is a new model in the DJB range, and is generally 9'4" x 23" x 2 7/8", but can be tweaked from 8'4" through to 10'0". The outline is pulled in a little at the nose with fairly parallel rails and a hippy lower end into a squashed rounded square-tail. The nose concave runs into a rolled bottom from the mid point to the tail, and the rails are low pinched 50/50 with a little flip in the tail.

And some Australian PLB subscriber is going to score their very own by next issue!
