GOT A VID OF ONE WAVE? “CLIP OF THE SEASON” IS BACK
Wednesday, 14 June 2017

Giving local surfers the opportunity to hit the jackpot again this winter, entries for the HIF Clip of the Season is now open across Australia - an initiative put in place by HIF to support grassroots surfing in Australia.

The Clip of the Season is open to surfers in Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales across surfing, longboarding, bodyboarding and stand up paddle boarding. Entrants are required to submit a short clip of a wave being ridden at some time during the 2017 winter season.

At the end of the winter period, the top two entries as selected by state judging panels will progress to a national final, with the overall winner and runner up to be decided by a public vote. The national competition prize pool totals $8,000, an attractive driver for both aspiring and established surfers and film makers funding their passion for surfing. This competition provides yet another avenue for HIF to directly promote and encourage participation in the sport and invest directly into the community.

The 2016 Queensland winners who represented the State at the national competition was film maker Luke Faithfull (Coolum) alongside surfer and friend Zye Norris (Noosa Heads) from the Sunshine Coast. Last year it was Western Australian surfer Josh Cattlin (Yallingup) and film maker Belinda Le Grice (City Beach) who took out the national final and the $4,000 winners cheque. Le Grice encourages others to get behind the lens in 2017.

"You've got nothing to lose except maybe some time out of the water videoing someone else, but I find it pretty fun watching friends and family surf. Get in the sun, relax and shoot some footage…. You never know what you’re going to end up with," said Le Grice. "You just need a good, long lasting battery!"

The competition is open to all skill levels from beginner to professional.

All you have to do to enter is email through your clip to info@surfingqueensland.com.au by the 31st of August 2017.
