A great day had at Ocean Grove with the Southern Ocean United Longboarders club hosting the sixth Interstate Longboard Challenge against South Australia's Maladjusted Longboarders Club.

Conditions were challenging but clean most of the day, and although all the Maladjusted members surfed their best we were unable to regain our beloved trophy.

After the surfing both clubs gathered at the rotunda for our traditional BBQ tea. Thanks to all the SOUL members involved in putting the meal together and a big thanks also to those who put the gift bags together and donated items.

It has been a six-year tradition to give the visiting club a gift bag full of local produce and art, but both clubs have decided that this will be the last year of the bags as it's quite a lot of work is involved sourcing items. Now in the too-hard basket!

The day was a total success and so well run. Congratulations SOUL and thanks for putting on a great comp. Thanks to all those that helped set up, contest direction, judge, cook and clean up. I can't wait for ILC 7 in 2018 back home in South Oz!
