Loggerheads Malibu Club has taken top honours in the Australian boardriding community after been named the 2012 VB Boardriders Club of the Year.

Australia's best cold beer VB and Surfing Australia are proudly supporting the grassroots of Australian surfing, the boardriding clubs, via the exclusive VB Boardriders Club, which now has more than 125 member clubs.

Based at Scotts Head on the New South Wales' mid-north coast, Loggerheads was established in 1984 and has held the annual Loggerheads Malibu Classic for the past 28 years.

The club added a new Under 9 foot/Retro division to their club rounds in 2012, with the aim of encouraging new members and a fun environment.

Club President Nikki Thompson said the club boasts 42 members.

"Loggerheads is stoked to have won the VB Club of the year," Nikki said. "Loggerheads is one of the origi nal Longboard Clubs on the coast, with over 27 years under our toes, and experience has paid off.

"There are many other great surfboard clubs on the coast and we feel very privileged to have received VB Club of the Year 2012. Thank you VB and Surfing Australia."

Loggerheads also support beginners as well as up-and-coming juniors progressing through state and national events including Kirra Perry and Jack Lynch, while also donating up to $2000 annually to various charities.

As the VB Boardriders Club of the Year, Loggerheads has won a VB Vending Machine, $1000 and 10 cartons of VB.

Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark congratulated Loggerheads for winning the award.
