HERE COME’S PLB’S 58TH GIVEAWAY BOARD! A CLASSIC MALIBU “THE PIG” MODEL.
Tuesday, 6 November 2012

Yep, we've now given away 57 top-end boards to Oz PLB subscribers over 57 issues on the trot (got to be a world record?) – and just check out number 58!

With its soft rails, heavy glass and a big fin right back on the tail, The Pig has that in-built momentum for trim and glide usually only found in vintage boards.

Shaper Peter White rode similar teardrop plan-shapes back when he first started building boards 45 years ago, and while the Classic Malibu Pig is based on traditional templates, Peter's added tweaks make it as versatile and responsive as modern equipment.

Wider hips mean plenty of curve in the rail outline towards the tail for responsive turns and pivots – you turn off the curve. The hips also add stability and maneouvrability when you're on the tip, and a flatter rocker gives exceptional trim and paddle speed.

With typical dimensions ranging from 9'2" to 9'8" long, 22¾" to 231/4" wide, and 2¾" to 31/4" thick, this is one serious surfboard.

The Pig comes with either a fin box or a glassed-in dork fin (they've got them in paisley too) which are hand-made at Classic Malibu – who this year are celebrating 25 years at their factor/showroom at Noosaville.  www.classicmalibu.com

Worst that can happen is a year's supply of PLB.
