Yep we've now given 57 top-end boards away over 57 issues, and 28-year-old PE teacher Darren Beecroft from Norah Head on the NSW Central Coast was fairly dribbling when we told him he'd won the Jye Byrnes Surfboards Foam & Fibre single-fin.
Turns out Darren rides short and longboards, lives a stone's throw from Soldiers
Beach, and got introduced to surfing as wee grom by his dad Gary who he still surfs with to this day.
With its clean outlines and sweet old-skool high-density foam stringer, this particular board is a 9'2" x 23" x 2 7/8" chisel-tail. Says second-generation shaper Jye: "It's one of many I do that channel the log theme but are more functional for the everyday surfer. Contours are blended from a nose concave into a slightly rolled bottom, to finish with a small vee, and rails are soft all the way to a small tail edge. They are designed to perform in all conditions, from a point to your local beachbreak."
