SAVE THE WAVES LAUNCHES FILM FESTIVAL
Saturday, 13 October 2012

Save The Waves Film Festival visits 3 California cities on consecutive Fridays in November 2012 - in the thriving coastal enclaves of San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara. This is an innovative event bringing together our singular community of surfers, environmentalists and ocean lovers for intimate screenings of environmental, surf and ocean-adventure documentary films in a unique ocean activist style.

In Santa Barbara on November 2, Save The Waves Film Festival at the Arlington Theatre features the world premiere of Chris Malloy’s latest surfing documentary, Groundswell, in which a group of activists set sail for an exploratory surf trip along British Columbia’s unspoiled but threatened west coast. This Santa Barbara event will also feature live music and a handful of other new films.

Save The Waves Film Festival also features the world premiere of "Ode" -- an alternative look at the northern California wilderness surfing experience by underground lensman Patrick Trefz. Also featuring premieres of new films by Kyle Thiermann, Rodrigo Farias and more.

All event proceeds benefit the environmental programs of Save The Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves. Save The Waves Film Festival is presented by Patagonia, Teva, Clif Bar and O'Neill. Save The Waves Film Festival is also supported by: LoaTree, Zola Acai, 7x7 Magazine, Cannonball Press, San Franpsycho, Peligroso Tequila, Guayaki Yerba Mate, Sierra Nevada, Ocean Vodka, SurfersVillage.
