THE 22ND EVANS HEAD MALIBU CLASSIC - WRAP UP
Saturday, 6 October 2012

In clean small waves, the talented field of surfers entertained a large crowd with a combination of attacking, progressive manoeuvres and classic noserides, with Ruben Roxburgh winning the premier event - the Bowlo Opens 9’ division.

Jared Neal was competing for his fourth straight title in the event and showed the field why he’s ranked as one of the top longboard surfers in the world. He fell just short of another title with a very respectable 2nd.

Isabelle Braly from Byron Bay is one of the most stylish surfers in the country and she combined her graceful manoeuvres with some critical noseriding to win the Open Women’s division.

New to this year was the “loggers” division. Contest organisers were overwhelmed by the number of entrants and had to increase the number of heats to accommodate them all.

The final of the Bennett Surfboards Loggers division was a wonderful display of technical noseriding and old school flair. For the hundreds of onlookers on the beach, it was a great spectacle. Brett Caller was the standout surfer in a field of incredible surfing talent from all over NSW - Jack Lynch, Isaac Fields, Matt Aldridge, Nick Farago and Marlin Guihot.
