BURLEIGH BREWING CRACKS ANOTHER GOLD MEDAL AT THE WORLD BEER BREWING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CHICAGO
Friday, 21 September 2012

Run by local longboarders Brennan and Peta Fielding, over the past few years the Gold Coast's boutique brewery Burleigh Brewing have racked up more gold medals than Thorpie and Phelps combined - and we're talking the tough discipline of fine beer brewing here!

Only weeks after hitting bottle shops and bars across Australia, Black Giraffe, the black coffee lager produced by Burleigh Brewing Co, has taken home GOLD at the World Beer Championships in the United States.

Commenting on Black Giraffe, the World Beer Championships judges said:

"Lush artisan roasted coffee and chocolate and nut aromas and flavors with a crisp, chewy dryish medium-to-full body and a tangy, grilled fruit, chestnuts, and peppered arugula finish with a noticeable caffeine "buzz". A superbly balanced and a drinkable coffee beer for fans and non-fans of the concept."

The World Beer Championships are run annually in a series of style-based tasting sessions in a dedicated tasting lab at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) in Chicago, and are one of the most professional and highly regarded competitions in the world.

Kenton Campbell, CEO of Zarraffas Coffee says:

"Our congratulations to Burleigh Brewing for another award-winning brew. It's exciting what two Australian-owned and operated businesses can do together and Black Giraffe is a great example of our creative collaboration."

Burleigh Brewing's limited releases from their 'Bit on the Side Dept' come packaged in dinner-size, 650ml screen-printed, collectible bottles. The perfect size for sharing (but you'll need to buy two, because you'll both want a bottle to keep!)
