The Caloundra Malibu Club are hosting the 12th annual Fun in the Sun team longboarding challenge on October 20-21. The location, dependant on conditions will be a beach between Ann St & Happy Valley, Caloundra.
The emphasis is on fun in this unique longboarding competition. It’s about surfers of every generation - Grandpas & Grandmas through to their grandkids - getting together for a weekend of waves, good fun and great company. It’s a team challenge, your team competing against other teams rather than competing as individuals. It allows families, friends, clubs and workmates to team up and have some fun with a splash of friendly rivalry.
team format = 5 Surfers
* Either Junior 18 & under (m or f) or female of any age
* Old Mal (M or F)
* Open (M or F)
* Over 45 (M or F)
* Over 35 (M or F)
A maximum of 20 teams may register so download your nomination form ASAP from www.caloundramalibuclub.com
Entry Fee = $40 per surfer
Heats are 50 minutes long and each team will surf in three rounds.
This much anticipated event attracts local and interstate participants of varying skill levels—amateur to professional. In previous years we’ve been entertained by the expertise and polished skills of World and Australian longboarding champions as well as a number of Australian longboarding finalists and semi-finalists.
Fun in the Sun will run for the entire weekend with the first heat of each day beginning at 7am. Throughout the event, there will be two raffles — make sure you get your tickets for the chance of winning a new skateboard or surfboard.
Saturday afternoon all competitors are welcome to enjoy a free BBQ staffed by our club members. Throughout the weekend, There will also be a stall selling food/drinks and of course coffee. The finals will be taking place on Sunday afternoon followed by presentations and a surfboard auction.
Whether you’re a spectator or participant, you’re welcome. Here’s to a great weekend of fun in the sun.
