Thursday, 23 August 2012

Surf World Gold Coast is hosting its second annual annual “Women of the Waves” event at the museum on 29th August 2012 from 6.30pm.

The event features Wendy Botha-Todd, Jessie Miley-Dyer, Narani Henson and Deb Morris as guest speakers.

Wendy is a four-time world professional surfing champion, Jessi is the ASP women’s world tour manager, Narani is an artist who created the Surf Sister website, and Deb is a surf photographer specialising in wave art.

“The speakers represent both the sporting and the artistic aspects of surfing and highlight the significant contribution that women make to surfing,” said Surf World Chairman Jak Carroll.

“We are especially delighted to have Wendy Botha-Todd attending as she is someone who has achieved so much in the sport and has been an inspiration for many other female surfers.”

The MC for the night will be local artist/journalist Cassandra Nevin with Leetoia Williams also singing at the event.

The night commences at 6.30pm with the ticket price including a glass of champagne and snacks. Guests are encouraged to join in the celebratory spirit by getting “frocked-up” in cocktail dress.

Tickets are $15 at the door or may be pre-purchased from the Surf World museum in Currumbin.
