The man who bashed world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore has today been sentenced to four years in jail. Julius Sterling Guy Fox pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and reckless wounding in the Lismore District Court.
Fox bashed Ms Gilmore with an iron bar outside her Tweed Heads apartment in 2010.
Ms Gilmore, who last month won her fifth world title, was left with a fracture to her left wrist and cuts to her hand and head. Fox will be eligible for parole in December next year.
