2012 What a complicated year for Spain and the Spanish!
Well yes, but during the festival it is forbidden to talk of the crisis, unemployment etc. Under the penalty of the worst possible punishment we could think of . . .loss of priority at the peak!!
We suggest you come and just relax, kick off your shoes, turn of your mobile phone, or even better leave it at home! Put up your tent or park your van and let the worries of the world just pass you bye.
But please enjoy the surf, for this weekend nothing else matters, just surf and more surf!! We all deserve it after a long and hard year!
So what's happening at Salinas this year?
Competitions:
The challenge was how could we possibly organize a competition to match last years Duct Tape? It is impossible to better the spectacle we witnessed.
The global impact of last years event was evident, so how could we beat that?? Well, we will try, because we are brave hearted people!
There will be a `single brand competition´ with all entrants riding Takayama Scorpions!! a classic mini longboard ! which the organizers will provide! Two of these remarkable boards will be awarded as prizes!
Then there will be a classic Log comp, single fins only, minimum board weight 5 kgs, and NO leashes allowed… Old School style!
And finally on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th we will run our traditional open Longboard comp.!
Please note there will be NO Cash prizes this year.
The festival will, as always, be at Gauzon IV during the day, but the big Ewan festival stage will be down the beach a bit to the west.
Camping Areas:
It will, once again, be possible to camp in the pine forest area, if you have camped there before I am sure you will want to repeat the experience. It is a little haven of peace in the midst of a massive festival! This is the area we would recommend for families.
Other areas will be allocated near the main festival site. So, not long to go now! We look forward to seeing you all! Until then, Aloha! Keep the Spirit.
